Under 12 Event ; Under 16 Event

As part of the 125 year celebrations, Cheddar CC organised the first ever Youth 6-a-side tournamnet. Played on adjacent sections of the ground, with the sightscreens acting as both barrier and shared boundary, Cheddar's youth and future club players enjoyed a great day out. The format was simple - 6 players, 5 overs (1 per bowler) and score what you can.

The Junior event was close - 5 teams entered an all play all league and the head to head match between the two favourites went to the last ball.

The Senior event attracted entries from 4 teams who played each other twice. Click here to read more.

U12 Event

From the start there were clearly two teams who were going to be in contention - Sid Morris's and Jim Bamber's. There were one or two one sided games earlier on but trhe critical match was between these two since neither lost to anyone else.Batting first, Jim Bamber's team scored 51 with some good hitting from McKay (16). Bamber also cleared the boundary twice in his 18 not out and they reached a defendable total.
In reply, Morris's team scored quickly but lost wickets (Gittings out 5th ball for 13 and Paynes out 2nd ball for 6) but last man standing Dan mehlig saw his team home in a nail biting final over to help his team to the trophy.

Another notable performance - Jacob Gale's batting was outstanding, scoring 63 for only once out at an excellent rate. There was some excellent bowling, however it was not really a day for bowlers, but for muscular batsmen who could get the ball away.
