Cheddar U15 beat Claverham under 15 109 for 4 by 7 wickets
Cheddar under 15 (110 for 3) beat Claverham under 15 (109 for 4) by 7 wickets.
On a cloudy drizzly Monday evening, in stark contrast to the previous 10 days warm sunshine, Cheddar took the field looking forward to 1 1/2 hours of leather chasing in the gathering gloom. However the first surprise of the evening was how well the Cheddar bowlers coped with a soggy ball and slippery footmarks - Lewis Mathews being the pick with 1 for 14 off 4 overs. There was also some excellent fielding especially from Lucas Eriksson to back up the bowlers.
When Cheddar batted 3 wickets went early but at 10 for 3 came the second surprise as Lewis Mathews (37 no) strode to the wicket to join Ben Stacey (55 no) and the two put on exactly 100 runs to win the game with an over to spare.
For the first time this season the home team played to their ability and pulled off a stunning victory against one of this year's cup finallists.
