Cheddar 'A' 145-9 beat Brent Knoll 144 all out by 1 wicket.

As legendary commentator Bill Lawry would say: 'it's all happening at the SCG'. This match proved to be a classic between two evenly matched teams.

Seam-Up Salway won his second toss in succession and elected to field.

Brent openers Derek Phillips, (21), and A Adams, (14), started cautiously against the moving ball and it took until the thirteenth over for Cheddar made the breakthrough when Phillips was caught off of Salway. With Alam struggling at the other end, the brave decision to introduce Kieran McManus into the attack proved to be a great call, as he, who had a point to prove to his captain, took four Brent wickets in his twelve over spell of seriously good bowling. Brent crashed from 97-3 to 144 all out as Salway,

(5-24) and Stuart Hoyle, (1-11), returned to demolish the tail. C Stringer,

(32) offered stubborn resistance and S Bryant played a short cameo innings, but Cheddar felt 144 was always gettable. Brent had other ideas however.

As Dibb, Smith, Pascoe, Crummey and Alam were all out for single figure scores and Cheddar crashed to 38-6. A partnership was what was required and was provided by Hoyle, (28) and McManus (24). These two took the score to

84 before the latter, who couldn't be kept out of the game, was out to Phillips. Hoyle and Salway, (27no) rallied before Hoyle was bowled by Macbeth and with 42 still required and the last man walking out, a lot of fingernails were being chewed. Paul Davies, (17no), superbly supported skipper Salway is knocking off the required runs to see Cheddar chalk up another win. It was a superb game where both outcomes were possible.

Brent's Keith Morgan, removed five of Cheddar's top six batters and bowled a quality opening spell of swing bowling to dent Cheddars progress throughout.
