| Cheddar 302 for 6 beat Purnells 154 all out by 148 runs.
Cheddar's batsman enjoyed a fruitful day at Purnells where aussie Ben MacRae scored his second consecutive century to see his side to a comfortable win.
Cheddar skipper Luke Parfitt won the toss and had little hesitation in inviting the home side to field. The wicket looked good and the outfield quick and when 9 runs came off the first over things were already looking promising. However Callow was set to miss out as he perished in the second over caught behind off Maggs bring Buttler to the crease. Cheddar looked briefly at consolidation, but the boundry proved to inviting and macRae and Buttler found it with increasing regularity. The pair brought up the hundred in the 22nd over but Buttler holed out to the fielder at deep midwicket to bring a disapointing end to a promising innings of 32. This brought Veal out to bat and paved the way for one of the most entertaining partnerships in Cheddar's recent history. MacRae was well set allowing Veal to assume his dominant best, and the fielders were soon spread far and wide in hope rather than expectation of steming the flow of runs. Players from both sides worked hard in the heat with the batsman prepared to take every run on offer. The batsman hit the ball to all areas but offered no chances as the score passed the 200 mark in the 35th over. The partnership was finally broken with the score on 290 as MacRae was bowled for an outstanding 143. As is often the case the batman whos had the pads on in the pavillion all afternoon didn't stay to long in the middle as Gavin Waite was bowled for 0. As Cheddar pushed for runs Mike Sims unselfishly gave up his wicket in a run out to provide Andy Veal with the oppurtunity of reaching his hundred, a oppurtunity that he let slip being bowled for 96 the very next delivery bringing to a close a supurb innings. Paul Brice hit the last delivery for four and with it the total into the third century.
Any hope Purnells had of chasing down the target rested on a good start and the big hitting Hewish set about the Cheddar attack. With the fielding side attacking the runs flowed, but so did the wickets. With the score on 28 Terry Clark has Hewish sky one to Dan Parfitt who made no mistakes with the grab, and when Clarkhad the other opner lbw and hopes the home side had of an unlikly victory were quickly fading. Luke Parfitt was keeping one end tight but as he approached his eighth over he was unrewarded. This changed as he had Andrews bowled and Crocker caught behind in sucessive overs.
Macrae replaced Clark and was soon among the wickets claiming two in his first two overs and when Parfitt (3-30) nicked a third Purnells were reeling at78 for 7. After taking the oppurtunity to play himself in J.Tucker showed thet there was some fight left, but when MacRae claimed another wicket at the other end the end was nigh. Clark resuming from the other end had Maggs caught by MacRae and then bowled last man Nolan to record a confident victory for Cheddar.
